Medicated shampoo for flea and tick care for dogs and cats

66 SAR

Kills and controls fleas and ticks on contact. Gently cleanses and exfoliates skin and coat, leaving it soft and shiny. Safe for use on dogs, cats, ferrets, and horses over 12 weeks of age.

Fleas:

Dogs and other warm-blooded animals are particularly susceptible to flea infestations in warm climates or during the summer months when air temperatures and humidity levels are high. Dogs can contract fleas from other furry friends or from the environment. Fleas use their powerful hind legs to jump onto their "host" (your dog) and then bite. These bites can cause itching, hair loss, hot spots of itching, inflamed lesions, and even skin infections. You may also notice tiny dirt-like particles on your pet—flea feces and digested blood.

Female fleas can live up to a few weeks on your pet and may lay between 20 and 30 eggs per day during that time. Some eggs will hatch into larvae on your pet, while others will fall into your home environment—where they feed on skin flakes and other organic matter. Pet parents should treat their dog and the indoor and outdoor environments of their home. We recommend using Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Flea & Tick Shampoo in conjunction with Richard's Organics Premise Treatment for Fleas—made with 100% natural boric acid.

Ticks:

Ticks are parasitic arthropods that attach themselves to and feed on warm-blooded hosts, like your dog. Ticks are commonly found in wooded areas, tall grass, and vegetation. Dogs who spend a lot of time outdoors are at risk of being bitten by a tick at any time. When your dog does, a tick can attach and close its mouth in a crevice or fold and begin feeding on blood—sometimes even for days. Besides being disgusting, ticks are a major concern for both animals and people due to the high risk of transmitting diseases such as Lyme disease, rickettsiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, or babesiosis. A tick bite can also cause anemia, joint swelling, fever, and paralysis. If your pet shows any signs of illness and you suspect a tick bite, consult your veterinarian immediately. Always check your pet for ticks if it runs outdoors, especially in wooded areas.
